INGSERVTUR began operating in October of 1989 and
since then has grown and developed offering first class tourism
in the region promoting special places, landscapes and attractions
that La Serena, Coquimbo and the
Region itself have to offer the visitor. These include beaches,
astronomy, mountains, wonderful fertile valleys, history, architecture,
archaeology and nature which combined with welcoming hospitality
and seafood gastronomy in a microclimate which is so favourable
as to attract visitors all year round. La Serena is strategically
placed on the route north from the capital, it has good connections
being 1 hour by air or 6 hours by bus from Santiago. The region
as a whole is rapidly developing different economic activities
such as mining, agriculture, fishing, commerce and tourism. This
prosperity has enhanced the region and it has become an important
cultural and tourist destination.
